The inevitable has finally happened. Himanshu Kumar was on his way to Raipur by road since this morning, at 7 am. He was going there to drop Sodi Sambo, who has a bullet injury on her leg and needs a second surgery in Delhi. Sambo would have taken a train to Delhi from Raipur, along with two other people. Himanshuji was to return from Raipur this evening, along with his nephew Abhay.
We have just received news right now that Himanshuji and Sambo have both been arrested at Kanker, without any warrant. They were arrested when they had stopped at Kanker for lunch. Himanshuji is on his ninth day of fast today.
One police car was also along with them, as part of Himanshuji's security. Sambo had developed malaria three days ago, and she would be taken to the civil hospital here in Dantewada daily, for her saline drip, for about three hours. On two days, cops had come and asked the nurses for "the lady who has bullet wound and walks with a walker", but nurses wouldn't know due to change of duty timings of nurses. Himanshuji realised that Sambo could be arrested any moment. Last night (Jan 2) we tried to get Sambo on the night bus from Dantewada to Raipur, but we were accosted by the cops. They caught the driver and asked him, “Why let the Naxal woman get onto the bus?” Himanshuji intervened. We even tried to take the bus a little ahead, out of Dantewada, but the cops accosted us each time -- thrice. We realised that it was no point in trying to send her yesterday night.
So it was decided that Himanhuji would take her in the car till Raipur, and then either by train or airways. Please spread the word around.------------------------

The cops had gathered around our group of 5 and told them that they needed to make an enquiry with Sambo, for which she had to go with them. Himanshuji said that he would not leave her alone, and has gone along with her, to the police station.
They are now in the Kanker police station. IT IS NOT AN ARREST AS YET, BUT YOU ALL KNOW WELL WHAT “JUST A CALL FOR ENQUIRY” TO THE POLICE STATION IN CHHATTISGARH MEANS.
